The story of Aleer Nyang Jacob – a Tuendelee beneficiary supported by NTMY

Aleer is a South Sudanese refugee student in Kenya who NTMY support’s through Tuendelee Foundation. Since entering the programme he has been able to join the University of Nairobi and is currently doing his Bachelor of Commerce as well as pursuing a Certified Public Accountants course.

Aleer will now be undertaking an internship at Jacaranda Hotel, Bishop Gassis Rescue and Relief Foundation, to attain practical knowledge in accounting and finance.

On top of his academic success, Aleer has partnered with other young men and women to run a project at the Kakuma Refugee Camp, the camp Aleer first found refuge in, called “Bringing Knowledge to the displaced”. They came together as a community and built a library where Primary & High school students can read, and concentrate on their school work away from the hustle and bustle of the refugee camp.

We spoke to Aleer to hear how his involvement with Tuendelee and NTMY’s support has impacted him.

“I would like to sincerely thank our dear donors all over the world, especially the Nice to Meet You Foundation (NTMY) for their kind hearts. You are God send and without you, my childhood dreams could have just been unfulfilled dreams. I can’t thank you enough because what you have done for me and many other children across the divide is incomparable. May God continue to give you more blessings and resources so that a refugee child like me could achieve their dreams too. Thank you very much.”

We’re very proud of Aleer’s academic and community achievements and look forward to seeing his career and projects grow!
